It's sort of common practice for Christmas movies to be scored with wall to wall Christmas songs, with maybe a few seconds of traditional underscore in between. Because of this, there is no shortage of "Best Christmas Movie Soundtracks" lists out there, filled with a diverse (or sometimes not) variety of popular holiday covers. But what about the movies with an outstanding emotional underscore? Here are 5 Christmas scores to check out: ![]() 5. A Charlie Brown Christmas Music by Vince Guaraldi Ok, so this is kind of scored with songs, but they're songs that were written specifically to underscore the cartoon. Since it's not really a traditional underscore, I'm putting it at #5. ![]() 4. How the Grinch Stole Christmas Music by James Horner This one is mixed with songs, but Horner adds some fun and comedic elements that worked well with the movie. ![]() 3. Polar Express Music by Alan Silvestri Another mix with songs, but Silvestri brings the emotion and epic-ness that the story needs. ![]() 2. A Christmas Carol Music by Alan Silvestri This is a fun score - Alan Silvestri's typical big orchestral sound. ![]() 1. Home Alone Music by John Williams Of course, you just can't beat John Williams. This score has it all - beautiful orchestral writing, memorable themes, holiday cheer. Did I miss any? Leave your favorites in the comments! Related Posts |
